RestEd Terms of Service
The following terms and conditions govern your use of the online RestEd Program website (“Website”). If you do not understand and agree to be bound by all Terms, do not use this Website. Your use of this Website at any time constitutes a binding agreement by you to abide by these Terms.
1. Who are We?
RestEd is a website product offered by Dr. Norah Vincent and designed to provide education and support to Canadians affected by sleep disorders. RestEd does not constitute mental health counseling. Those in need of counseling should contact their family physician or local hospital for existing services.
2. Limitations and Protections
The material found on this Website is protected by copyright. Certain names, graphics, logos, icons, designs, words, titles or phrases on this Website may constitute trade names, trademarks or service marks. Trademarks may be registered in Canada and in other countries, as applicable. The display of trademarks on pages of this Website does not imply that a license of any kind has been granted.
Although considerable care has been taken in preparing and maintaining the information and materials contained on this Website, they are provided on an “as is” basis, without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, with respect to the accuracy or completeness of the information and Dr. Norah Vincent and colleagues do not assume any responsibility or liability whatsoever for publishing them herein.
In using this Website, you agree that Dr. Norah Vincent and co/leagues shall not be liable for any damages whatsoever (including indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential damages and loss of profits, opportunities or information) arising from (a) your use of or reliance on information contained on this Website; (b) any inaccuracy or omission in such information or failure to keep the information current; (c) use of any third-party web sites linked or referred to in this Website; (d) any Internet software used in connection with this Website or computer viruses or other destructive programs encountered as a result of using this Website; and (e) any other matter connected with the Website, even if Dr. Norah Vincent is made aware of the possibility of such claims, damages or losses.
This Website contains links to sites that Dr. Norah Vincent does not maintain. Dr. Norah
Vincent and colleagues assume no responsibility for the contents of third-party sites accessed through links on this Website. Access to such third-party sites is provided for your convenience only. Dr. Norah Vincent and colleagues do not monitor or endorse such third-party sites.
3. Data storage (security, access, retention policy)
Data you enter into RestEd will be used to a) determine an appropriate bedtime for the individual user, b) give you relevant feedback based on homework completed, c) help us to evaluate the population that we are serving, and d) offer you the opportunity for additional courses on sleep topics of interest. You are free to decline further services.
Data will be stored for a period of 6 months at a secure hosting site in Toronto, Ontario (EntirelyDigital) and for a period of 10 years in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada (771 Bannatyne
Avenue). Access to such data is limited to Dr. Norah Vincent (author/editor), EntirelyDigital, Cerebra Health Support Specialist, and an assigned Web Developer. Additionally, Dr. Bradley
J. Hallam, R. Psych. #1572 (in BC) and Dr. Julie Beaulac, C. Psych. (in Ontario) will have access to data of users in their respective provinces. All individuals who have access to your data will have signed confidentiality agreements pertaining to protecting your information. Your name or address will not be stored anywhere on this site. All data will be stored in encrypted files and in locked filing cabinets. Data will be securely destroyed and disposed of after the 10 year period.

4. Risks and Benefits
The type of approach used on this site is termed cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). The potential benefits of RestEd include more awareness of factors which interfere with sleep, education about techniques to improve sleep, and improved sleep and daytime energy. This program has been evaluated in a number of randomized controlled trials and published in peer-reviewed journals.
Lastly, it is convenient, private, and anonymous.
The risks associated with RestEd include the possibility of limited or no improvement in sleep despite your best efforts, lack of access to others with insomnia who could provide extra motivation to participate in the program and support you in your recovery. Other sources of help for this problem may include your family physician and/or your local sleep disorders
center. We do not identify detailed causes of your sleep problem and this program is not a
substitute for in person treatment which should be carried out with the help of a qualified healthcare professional.
We will strive to keep your sleep diary information confidential, although complete confidentiality cannot be guaranteed. Your name and address will not be stored anywhere on this site.
6. In Emergency
If you are in a crisis situation, you should go to the emergency room of your local hospital and/or contact your family physician. This site is not intended to replace professional help. You will find a list of local crisis centers in major Canadian cities on our homepage.
7. Technology Maintenance Plan
From time to time, this site will be disabled for planned maintenance. When that occurs, we will give you notice and you will have additional time with the program upon your return. As more research is done in the field of insomnia, we will make modifications to the site to reflect best practice.
8. Outcome Evaluation
We will use the number of visits and your feedback to help us to evaluate this program and to make future modifications to the site to improve user experience. There is no external funding source for this site.
If you would like to make a correction to data that you have entered into RestEd, you may do so by contacting Cerebra Health Support Specialist. You can request a copy of your complete record by written correspondence addressed to Dr. Norah Vincent, 771 Bannatyne avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada R3E 3N4. Please include two photocopied pieces of identification. We will respond within 30 days.

11. Email Communications
Email communications with Cerebra Health Support Specialists are designed to maximize use of the site, but not to constitute mental health counseling. Those in need of counseling should contact their family physician or local hospital for existing services. Cerebra Health Support Specialists are non-psychologists supervised by Dr. Norah Vincent, Ph.D., C. Psych. To protect your privacy, we suggest that you do not share your username or password with anyone and do not share your email address with someone whom you would not want to be
privy to your communications with Cerebra Health Support Specialists. Dr. Vincent and Cerebra Health will have access to your email communications.
Although every effort will be made to keep email communications confidential, absolute confidentiality cannot be guaranteed. In special circumstances, we may be unable to maintain confidentiality. These situations include a) if you advise us of a child or elder in need of protection, b) if you are considering harming yourself or someone else, c) if a court order requests data collected on this site, and d) if you supply your username and password to someone else. Additionally, users who reside in the province of Newfound/and, may have their records audited by a psychologist members of the Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board. The purpose of such an audit is to maintain the quality of the individual record and the results of this will be kept confidential. If you are agreeable to these terms, please proceed in contacting the Cerebra Health Support Specialist.
12. Cost of Purchase
RestEd can be accessed within the approved provinces for $199.99 plus applicable taxes.
